Education
After qualifying as an electrician in Seville (Spain), Rafael Guzmán Amo started a B.A (English) at the University of Seville, which he completed at the University of Limerick (Ireland) as an Erasmus student in 1998. He also completed an M.Sc. in 2005, sponsored by the Localisation Research Centre (LRC).
Rafael also holds Prince2, Lean, and Agile professional certifications.
Professional Experience
From 1999 to 2005, Rafael Guzmán worked at the LRC researching in different areas of software localisation, teaching and helping organise a number of international conferences.
In 2005, Rafa Guzmán joined Symantec Corporation, where he worked for 10 years both as an individual contributor and a project coordinator. He drove a number of initiatives, involving cross-functional teams as well as external vendors globally, resulting in automation and process improvement. Rafael also represented Symantec, speaking at several international conferences.
Currently, Rafael works as a business analyst at IBM. In addition, he works as a Spanish teacher in Dublin.
Rafael has given talks and courses on software localisation tools in the US, Spain, Ireland, UK, and France, and has published internationally.
In addition, Rafael has been leading several outreach events to facilitate the sharing of opinions and expertise among peers from the software localisation industry.
